Vantagen was formed in 1997 by a trio of former finance services and Human Resources executives. The organizing concept was simple: to develop a business experience that afforded mid-sized companies a benefits administration partnership opportunity that, up until that time, really could only be afforded by very large corporations. The experience – one rooted in high touch, flexible, customized and responsive delivery – would allow these mid-sized companies to achieve a level of support typically reserved for big companies with big budgets. So we set the plan, landed our first large client – a hospital system with an exceptionally complicated benefits infrastructure and moderately antiquated HRIS backbone – and set out to put the concept to the test.
In 2000, Vantagen (then known as The Summit Partnership) merged with ParenteBeard (then known as Parente Randolph) to become Parente HR Services. How did an accounting and consulting firm wind up in the benefits administration business? It’s simple, really. Our then new owner became one of our early clients, and that client became a big fan of the experience we set out to create on Day One. Our concept was taking off!
In 2010, after the successful 2009 merger of Parente Randolph and Beard Miller Company formed ParenteBeard, Parente HR Services made a strategic decision to change its name to Vantagen. The Vantagen brand was specifically and purposefully engineered to reflect those key values and attributes that got us to where we are today:

Gen
Generation; a combining form meaning “that which produces”.
Vantagen remains a wholly owned subsidiary of ParenteBeard. The ParenteBeard merger enabled us to expand our Human Resources Consulting practice while continuing to grow our benefits administration service offering.
Today, the team members behind Vantagen continue to embrace the core concepts that served as our foundation. If we do our jobs well, we make HR and Benefits professionals look good!
